The spindle shaft has a three point star designed to accept the MTD 6 point blades (or aftermarket variations). Mounting holes are not tapped (FSP MTD spindles are also not tapped). The factory installed the original spindle with self tapping bolts (part number 710-1260A). If the original bolts are in good condition when you remove them they can be re-used.
