The dog-clutch alone could drive a tractor never mind a mower. If this mower hits anything there will only be one winner. The lawnmower has just completed its annual service (the cost of which at your local mower shop would alone be greater than the asking price) The old coil has been replaced with an electronic ignition coil to improve the starting and reliability of its 148cc Briggs and Stratton 94988 engine. The flywheel armature air gap was reset to 0.012 The engine oil was drained whilst oil was hot and flushed through before refilling with new Briggs and Stratton recommended 0.6 litres of SAE 30 engine oil. The foam air filter was cleaned as per the manufacturers instructions The Hayter’s Automatic choke pulsa jet carburetor was stripped down and the fuel jets, filters and orifices were cleaned and blown through and the carburetor gasket (Briggs and Stratton 299637) was checked as servicable during rebuild before the carburetor’s adjustments were optimized. At the same time the fuel tank was flushed through before filling with fresh petrol. The NGK BL-2M spark plug was replaced, gapped correctly (30 thou) before being torqued down to 20Nm as recommended by Briggs and Stratton The mower runs and cuts very well, it has a 48mm blade that was removed reground, then balanced before being torqued down to 54 Nm (see photo 12) where the sharpened blade was having its balanced checked) The Mower has a strong self-propelled rear roller drive to give those desirable stately home stripes. This mower comes with a substantial grass box. The lawnmower benefits from a strong and lightweight aluminium cutting deck which is in very good condition for its age so no problems with rust in the bodywork. The single height adjuster functions really well. The recoil starter has been cleaned and oiled and the 3mm nylon starter rope was checked. The front wheels have both been re-greased, before being torqued down to Hayter s recommended end float. As can be seen from the photographs the mower is in excellent condition and if maintained, will last for many years to come, but does come with minor cosmetic age related scratches, dents and paint chips, that do not affect the operation of the mower, in fact it wears the battle scars quite proudly. Take your time to look at the photos as they are a major part of the description. Remember what you see is what you get. The Mower benefits from the vast Service network for both Hayter and Briggs Stratton, where spares are still freely available. It is designed primarily for a medium sized garden. The Hayter has an easy folding handle, which allows for trouble free transportation, particularly if you have a hatchback or an estate car. I will be more than happy to assist the buyer to lift the mower into their car. Due to its dimensions the mower is being offered as collection only from Gosport in Hampsh
